Relationship between corneal biomechanical indexes and optic disc morphometric indexes in patients with primary open angle glaucoma

Introduction . Glaucoma is a socially significant disease. With the advent of new technologies it has become possible to diagnose this disease at an earlier stage. The aim investigation was reveal relationships between biomechanical parameters optic nerve disc (OND) in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) against background achieving "target" intraocular pressure (IOP). Material and methods A retrospective cohort study conducted which 51 POAG were included. All underwent standard ophthalmologic examination. Central corneal thickness cornea also evaluated. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) performed assess state OND. Results discussion Goldman IOP levels had no differences depending on stage, but compensated differed: lowest detected advanced glaucoma, highest – far glaucoma. Corneal hysteresis factor (CH) resistance (CRF) values depended stage: initial, coefficient tension fibrous membrane eye group When assessing correlation properties OND parameters, there positive CTR mean RNFL, RNFL upper segment neuroretinal band area (NRB), negative horizontal, vertical size excavation area. Conclusion This demonstrated (CCT, CH, CRF) their derivatives: CH/CRF ratio, characterizing compensation degree morphological disk IOP. Protective thicker cornea, higher indices progression shown.
